Life in the Cold
Project description:
In this project we made experiments that yield helpful information for a winter survival situation. Our group did the experiment described below. All of the datable may not be very accurate due to our limit of materials and measuring limitation. In this project we explored the concepts of energy in food we measured this by burning it beneath a can filled with water, and we measured the before and after temperature. Even if this did not give us a completely accurate measurement we got a general idea of the energy content of the food.
My role in my group:
My role in my group was the materials manager and the designer. I designed the experiment, I was supposed to write most of the procedure and the proposal. I also reminded group members to bring in certain materials, and got some of the materials myself for our experiment. There are other roles that my other group members played, leader, designer, resource manager, documenter, researcher, and data manager.

The Electronics Arduino Project
Project Description
In this project we explored the world of electronics, resistors and LED lights mostly. We used Arduinos and S4A to drag and drop code programs that the Arduino would perform on our LEDs. We used leds and tried to get the most in one circuit fully lit up. We learned that there are 2 different ways to light up a circuit. Also in this project I ended up going above and beyond and drag and drop coded a code to make a single LED flash morse code so when you typed a letter on your computer then it flashed the morse code for that letter. Then that was still not enough so I went further to make a led that flashed different colors while it did morse code.
Project Reflection
Looking back on this project I thought thought that on the actual note taking I slacked quite a bit. I was always busy drag and drop coding as well as experimenting with the materials I was given. Thus In this project I did learn a lot but not necessarily from the notes we took or the labs we did but from my own curiosity and exploration of the vast topic of electrical engineering. Overall I loved this project because it is actually something I am very interested in exploring. I wish we spent more time on the very short project and explored the topic of electrical engineering.
The Rube Goldberg Project
Project description:
In this project I think our rube met all of the requirements and made many cups of coffee on exhibition night. I think that I dominated the work load as far as building the actual rube, which I didn't mean to but that is just how it worked out. The rest of the group did a lot more of the write ups which I was fine with because write ups are one of my most disliked tasks. Over all, I liked this project especially because ours was one of the few that ran all the way through independently.

Requirments:
1. Must fit on a space roughly 2 ft. x 2 ft x 3 ft (You can go outside of that for the start or finish step) Ours was 3 feet by 3 feet by 4 feet, we sort of went outside of what we were supposed to do. 3. Must have at least 12 steps. A working step is defined as a triggering that causes an action. It does have At least 12 steps/transfers of energy. |
