In Humanities in the mask project I have made a mask out of plaster of Paris. Now I am finishing up painting it even though it was due last Friday. And I am editing my essay and finishing fleshing out a few paragraphs. Also more recently in class I have been helping brainstorm ideas for exhibition, and now just today we came to a decision on one idea. After making posters, and sending emails and getting feedback we as a class voted on which one we liked the most. The one that won the popular vote was one that described a maze. The maze lets you chose your own personal social identity after in each room being educated by students about the cycle of socialization.
The problems of previous exhibitions that this is trying to address. Trying to interact with the crowd more and less stand and deliver exhibition, and more of and choice of interaction of the audience.
For this one I personally didn’t vote on this probably because I felt a little rushed into making a vote and couldn’t make as educated of a decision. The part of this one that excites me the most though is the part of it where we most likely be building the rooms and hallways for the maze. As well as fundraising most likely. These two options excite me the most because one is hands on, and the other is helping pay for the materials to build the rooms and walls.
I am excited to build the rooms and walls partly because I have a lot of construction experience as well as it will enrich my knowledge of fire code.
I think that being in groups of like ideas for the last two weeks was a struggle. Just to getting started and make reasonable forward progress part of it, also there was not perfect group dynamics but a lot of it was partly us procrastinating a little. Going forward into the next stage of this project I could try to keep my group more on track as far as our goal and try to knock a lot of the preliminary work out first.
