With working with groups I struggle with:
Collaboration: Working well with others
I struggle with collaboration not because I am particularly bad at collaboration but I prefer to work alone. Like the time when I was in a group one time, and the group was having some tricky dynamics. So I would just have prefered just not to have been working in that group.
Open Minded: Accepting and considering others feedback thoughts and Ideas.
I will often struggle with open mindedness because I like my ideas. Also on multiple occasions I try and b open minded to others ideas often in the leadership role, and their ideas end up being a waste of time. I know this sounds kind of predigest but what can I do I have nothing else but these experiences to base it off of.
I plan to improve these ideas by maybe helping people refine their ideas for my struggle of open mindedness. Collaboration I could work on by just helping delegate or do what is delegated to me in a group.
My strengths in groups:
Creative Thinking: Thinking out of the box.
I have many creative ideas for projects. I know this based on my feed back over the years on them.
Risk Taker: Risking the whole project on one idea that may or may not work.
I risk many of my out of the box ideas on a whole project.
With this project I would like to see it come together smoothly and all work together efficiently. As well as the craftsmanship and standards of all aspects of the exhibitions run smoothly and are kept to a high standard.
I would like the public to see our exhibition and say it was life changing and will change their perspective at least from one angle forever. If there were attendees of this exhibition that their profession was in this field I would like them to think of us having a highly advanced understanding of the content. Also I hope they would like the way we were able to educate the public of our studies.
For this exhibition to make sure we are presenting accurate information to our audience. We could double check the articles for our information, and we could quote the article during parts of the exhibition.
In Humanities in the mask project I have made a mask out of plaster of Paris. Now I am finishing up painting it even though it was due last Friday. And I am editing my essay and finishing fleshing out a few paragraphs. Also more recently in class I have been helping brainstorm ideas for exhibition, and now just today we came to a decision on one idea. After making posters, and sending emails and getting feedback we as a class voted on which one we liked the most. The one that won the popular vote was one that described a maze. The maze lets you chose your own personal social identity after in each room being educated by students about the cycle of socialization.
The problems of previous exhibitions that this is trying to address. Trying to interact with the crowd more and less stand and deliver exhibition, and more of and choice of interaction of the audience.
For this one I personally didn’t vote on this probably because I felt a little rushed into making a vote and couldn’t make as educated of a decision. The part of this one that excites me the most though is the part of it where we most likely be building the rooms and hallways for the maze. As well as fundraising most likely. These two options excite me the most because one is hands on, and the other is helping pay for the materials to build the rooms and walls.
I am excited to build the rooms and walls partly because I have a lot of construction experience as well as it will enrich my knowledge of fire code.
I think that being in groups of like ideas for the last two weeks was a struggle. Just to getting started and make reasonable forward progress part of it, also there was not perfect group dynamics but a lot of it was partly us procrastinating a little. Going forward into the next stage of this project I could try to keep my group more on track as far as our goal and try to knock a lot of the preliminary work out first.
